The Myth About Omega 3 And Omega 6 Fatty Acids

The essential fatty acids Omega 3 and Omega 6 have become very popular in recent years. The market offers a wide range of various types of fats, containing Omega 3 and Omega 6 as olive oil, sesame oil, pumpkin oil, codliver oil, flaxseed oil, and others.

Companies that produce and supply these products focus mostly on the fact that Omega 3 and Omega 6 are extremely healthy and beneficial to the human body. The truth is that Omega 3 and 6 essential nutrients, but consuming them in large quantities, especially in the form of concentrated oils poses a risk to human health.

What are the essential fatty acids?

Only plants can create the two types of polyunsaturated fats called essential fatty acids Omega 3 and Omega 6. They are called essential because the body can not replicate them and must obtain them through food. All other fatty acids can be synthesized by humans.

There are 3 main types of Omega 3 fatty acids:

• alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is found mainly in plants;

• eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA);

• docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which is found mainly in fish and in smaller amount in eggs and seaweed.

In a healthy organism ALA is converted into EPA and DHA. The two main Omega 6 fats, consumed by humans, are linoleic and gamalinolenic acid.

For what are beneficial Omega 3 and Omega 6?

Essential fatty acids are vital for the human body because:

• They are part of the phospholipids of all cell membranes;

• Participate in transport and oxidation of cholesterol;

• Participate in the formation of small but powerful hormones known as eicosanoids;

• Participate in the control of inflammatory processes;

• Maintaining hormonal balance, proper functioning of the brain and nervous system.

When and how Omega 3 and Omega 6 can harm health?

Consuming large amounts of Omega 3 and Omega 6 are the cause of various diseases.The normal dose of Omega 6 necessary for maintaining optimal health, should be from 1 to 4% of the total calories in the body. The normal dose of Omega 3 should also be from 1 to 4% or in little larger doses. In this ideal ratio, Omega 3 and Omega 6 circulate normally in the human body. In larger quantities they can cause various problems, such as: disease of the cardiovascular and immune systems, obesity and cancer.

Daily intake of cold-pressed oils and refined oils most often significantly exceeds these amounts.

Most nutritionists and doctors  are afraid that most people fail to transform Omega 3 in DHA fat which is very useful for the body. The most common reason for this is the higher intake of Omega 6 compared with Omega 3. The solution is consuming Omega 3 in somewhat larger or equal amounts of Omega 6, adopted from natural plant foods such as leafy green vegetables, hemp and flax .

Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can harm the cardiovascular system.

Companies producing concentrated oils and oils rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6, claim that their products help in cardiovascular problems. But taken in that form, Omega 3 and 6 are oxidized rapidly and form free radicals that damage the arteries in the body. This is a prerequisite for atherosclerosis.

Study of African monkeys found that replacing saturated fats with monounsaturated (such as cold pressed olive oil) does not present any protection for atherosclerosis. The high content of fats in the diet (especially cooking oil and butter) causes significant increases in plasma triglycerides and blood clotting levels. Consequently, blood clots and thrombosis are formed, which in turn is the major cause for prior to infarct conditions.

Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can lower immunity.

Both types of fats, Omega 3 and Omega 6, taken in larger doses inhibit the immune cells that are responsible for protection from viruses, bacteria, parasites, and cancer cells.

Omega 3 and Omega 6 can be a major cause for obesity.

The high content of fats in the diet is a prerequisite cause for obesity. The human body has a function to accumulate stocks to use in case of need. Which means that the fat, that we eat is the first stock that body accumulates or in other words - the fat we eat is the fat we carry. Recently the information is popularized that Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids promote weight loss. Although Omega 3 and Omega 6 are beneficial, their intake in large doses deteriorates the condition of the body and is a prerequisite for obesity.

Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can cause cancer.

Studies of Cancer Research show that intake of animal and vegetable fats in larger quantities increase the risk of developing tumor cells and significant increase in cancer metastasis. In another experiment of Cancer Institute were subjected to heat treatment raw Chinese rapeseed, peanuts, soybean, flax and linolenic and linoleic acid. The results indicate that in all products are generated carcinogens that are a prerequisite for cancers.

How to consume Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids so that they are beneficial for the body?

All types of fats - replaceable and irreplaceable, are very beneficial, but they must be taken from natural sources and in required quantities.

Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can be found in natural form in plant foods.

Rich sources of Omega 3 are purslane, spinach, lettuce, cauliflower, flax, hemp, walnuts and others. Rich sources of Omega 6 are saffron, sunflower, hemp, flax, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds. But even in this natural plant form, Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids taken as seeds or nuts should not exceed 30-40 grams daily intake.

Most people consume acquired artificially fats (such as cold pressed oils) in amounts that greatly exceed normal doses suitable for the human body. The observations of the Vita Rama team show that after purification of the body and following proper diet, the body is naturally supplied with all the necessary nutrients and fats. In some cases is required the intake of small amounts cold-pressed oils which contain Omega 3 and its derivatives EPA and DHA. They are taken not as food but as medicine, food supplement.

It is known that certain fish species contain large amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids into easily digestible form of EPA and DHA. But the fat in thermally treated fish is transformed into carcinogen. Thus the fat is transformed from useful into harmful. Furthermore, there is the danger that the fish might contain large percentage of mercury, because these days the seas and oceans are heavily polluted.

For better absorption of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids the team of Vita Rama advices:

• Stop for a period of time all animal products - meat, fish, eggs, dairy products; all kinds of oils - olive, sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, fish and others; and all kinds of refined convenience food such as waffles, pasta and others.

• Reduce consumption of the following plant foods high in fats: seeds, nuts, olives, avocado and others. Of seeds and nuts we recommend: ground flaxseed (1 tablespoon), hulled hemp seed (up to 20 grams), chia seeds (up to 30 grams).

• Increase your intake of fresh fruits and leafy green vegetables.

• Let your diet include: gluten-free grain foods such as millet, buckwheat, quinoa, rice, corn and amaranth, and a certain amount of legumes - chickpeas, lentils, mung beans, beans, peas.
